My name is Dr. Katie Stull, I was fortunate enough to be introduced to chiropractic as a young child, but never knew the benefits I was receiving until I was much older. While at Central Michigan University studying to become a physical therapist, my brother, already at chiropractic college talked me into joining him. I didn’t have a clear view of what I really wanted to do with my life, so I decided to give it a shot. I was seven months pregnant when I graduated and took some time off to stay at home and became pregnant again with my second child. This was when I learned the truth about what chiropractic really was, what it really can be, and more importantly that I wanted to share it with the world!
Once I took on the role of mom, I realized asking questions and not always “going with the flow” became much more important to me. In life we often don’t even know there are options to our health care. This is what chiropractic represented for me, a whole new way of looking at health care. Being a mom, I put a lot more stock into taking steps to keep myself and my family well, instead of needing to take steps to get us better.
God has given us a body that is whole. It has an amazing ability to heal itself and more importantly it knows when it needs to be healed even when we don’t. Starting from birth, our bodies, our nervous systems, never had a chance to be 100%. On a daily basis we are bombarded with chemical and environmental toxins. Even in utero it has been shown that we are exposed to hundreds of toxins found in the food and the air breathed by our mothers. I have two very special children who have greatly benefited from chiropractic care. Chiropractic is so much more than alleviating low back or neck pain. It’s more than fixing a disc that “slipped” out of place. Chiropractic participates in the body’s own healing.
I pursued my chiropractic studies at National College of Chiropractic just outside of Chicago after obtaining my undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University.
Since getting my Doctor of Chiropractic degree, I have continued my education and am currently a Certified Pediatric Chiropractor and am working towards my Diplomat in Neurosensory Integration. I am currently blessed to have a family friendly office that provides care to the entire family. Over the past few years I have found my passion truly lies in working with pregnancy and children. I believe every child is born with great potential and they should be allowed to achieve it.
We Are A Chiropractic Family
As I stated above, I have two amazing children, MaKenna and Nicholas, and a wonderful husband Kit. Everyone in our practice knows for me FAMILY COMES FIRST! Between work and family we don’t tend to have a lot of free time, but when we do we enjoy riding bikes together and spending time in the water during the summer. This past summer my kids learned to water ski which was great!!
My own personal health is always a top priority, and I am always certain to get my weekly chiropractic adjustment. As a mom, wife and business owner finding time to exercise is always an issue, but I know how much better I feel when I do. I walk a few days a week with a co-worker and do Pilate’s at home at night to help keep my core system strong. Exercise doesn’t mean having to go to the gym everyday, simply walking and some basic core exercises will do more than you think to keep you standing tall! Don’t forget to find a friend, it really helps keep you on track!
Your health is ever changing. Health is not being “sick” one day and “well” the next, it’s a way of life, it’s a continuum. At all times we have millions of bacteria and virus’ floating around in our bodies. We also have good bacteria and cells which keep the “bad” guys in check. When our bodies get run down by eating unhealthy foods, staying up late and letting our nervous systems get run down, the “bad” guys overtake the “good”, only then do we start to feel “sick.” Viewing health this way if often new to many of us, and takes some time to integrate this view into our daily living. This is one of the reasons I love to start teaching what “health” means with young children, and even when they are still growing in the womb.
